According to Bruneian law, people engaged in gay sex and adultery will be stoned to death from next week.

Homosexuality, now illegal in Brunei, will likely be considered a capital offence. The Daily Mail notes that the oil-rich nation had previously practiced a punishment of up to 10 years in prison for engaging in homosexual conduct. Nonetheless, LGBT people convicted of this crime will be stoned to death starting in April 2019.

Note that this is according to Sharia law, which only applies to Muslims.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Matthew Woolfe who is the director of the human rights group The Brunei Project confirms the enforcement of this law by the beginning of April.

“An independent lawyer with whom I am in contact with in Brunei also confirmed that the Gazette with this announcement was sent to all law firms in Brunei in January.”

The law can be found gazetted under the Syariah Penal Code 2013
