On Wednesday, the Premier League took a big move to restore matches after 20 clubs decided to begin touch training.

After its third round of testing of 1,008 players and club officials, the league also announced that it had four positive cases from three clubs.

As far as contact training is concerned, a formal statement said: “The shareholders in the Premier League today voted unanimously to reopen contact training – a further step towards restarting Premie.

“Squads are now able to train as a group and engage in tackling while minimising any unnecessary close contact.”

The meetings will take place on Thursday, where topics such as restart dates, television schedules and contingency plans will be addressed if the season is to be shortened.
